The Magic Faraway Tree is the biggest and the tallest tree in the world; right in the middle of the Enchanted Wood- and it's very magic indeed!

But do you know why it is called the Faraway Tree?- That's because its top is so far away, up into the clouds, and always sticks up into some queer magic land - a different one every week! Isn't that exciting?

               The Land of Treats, where you can eat whatever you like, The Land of Spells, where you can buy spells for almost anything and such other lovely places!  Its not fun always however. There can be strange lands, dangerous at times, but Moonface knows about most of them. So, you must always ask his advice.

     But, just in case he isn't around, here is a  small guide to all the lands that have been up there so far.  So, at least you know which land to go to and which to stay away from. 

The 'Land of secrets' is full of powerful secrets.  Wish you had a chocolate bar that would never finish? Learn the secret here. Just one rule you must never forget. You can only learn your own secret. If you are being nosey wanting to know somebody else's secret. you can land up in serious trouble, like Connie did.  She eavesdropped on a fairy's secret and lost her voice for one whole week! She was lucky 'The Land of Enchantments' came up next week and she could a reversal spell.  But, you and I might not be all that lucky, isn't it?

THE LAND OF DO AS YOU PLEASE

As the name says, Do as you please. Its one of my favourite lands, it's a whole lot fun to be here. Do all the things you've always wanted to. Want to ride a pony? Want to eat loads of candyfloss? Want to fly around? Go ahead. Just wish for it and you will have it.  But, think twice before you wish.

The land of enchantments is very magical indeed, a land of strange colours, lights and shadows. Everything here shines and shimmers and moves. Nothing stays the same for a moment! Its extremely beautiful with curious little shops, where the witches, goblins and enchanters cry their wares. There are all sorts of queer and exciting things for sale like magic cloaks, that made one invisible, silver wands full of magic and all sorts of spells and enchantments which are very expensive. 

There are three important things that you must always keep in mind.
1) Never step into a ring drawn on the ground in chalk
2)Don't stroke any black cat with green eyes
3) Don't be rude to anyone in this land.

My second-favourite place, this land is full of treats! Oh! and what treats! Donkey rides, bran-tubs, Christmas trees, circuses, pantomimes, clowns, balloons, crackers and many such things! There are roundabouts with live animals to ride on! (how about a  golden pony!!) There's an ice-cream stall where you will find ice-creams of every flavour you could ever imagine. There' s balloon ride and Boating Pool and what not! And guess what? You can watch the circus and the conjurer's show too!

Not a very pleasant place, this one is. The land of dreams is full of poppy beds, with a  Sandman waiting right at the entrance, waiting to throw sand on you. The sand puts you to sleep and you dream  all sorts of queer dreams, as if they were true. You could sleep on forever, like Jo, Bessie, Fanny, Moonface, Saucepan and Dick who fell so fast asleep, that they would have stayed there forever had it not been for Dame Washalot, Mr.Whatzhisname and Silky who rescued them.

The land of Goodies is a small place set with crooked opuses and shops. Every single house and shop is made up of things to eat, so everything here is eatable. There are trees and bushes growing currant buns and jelly sweets. There are fences made of barley sugar, the nicest you have ever tasted. There are all sorts of things you'd like to eat, treacle puddings, chocolate cake, hot buns, sweets, ice-creams and what not! You better carry a big basket along!

The Land of the Topsy Turvy is a strange sight.  Every house is upside down and stands on its chimneys. The trees are upside down, their heads buried in the ground and their roots in the air. The people here walk upside down too! What a queer sight! But you better mind your tongue while you are here. Jo had once been very rude to a topsy turvy policeman, who made Jo go topsy turvy too!  Moonface and others barely managed to get him down the hole, to the faraway Tree and he had to spend the night at Moonface's. They had to take him to The Land of Spells to get the Waking Spell, to get him back to normal. He was lucky there was a land of Spells coming up next.  

The Land of Spells looks like a big marketplace with all kind of curious little shops and stalls, where all queer folk sell their wares. There are great wizards famous for their magic, witches making spells, fairy folk, pixies, goblins, gnomes, elves all selling their spells at the top of their voices. And what crazy spells! A spell to make a crooked nose straight, a spell to grow blue daffodils and a spell to make a cat sing!! There are so many spells I need,  I have my spells-list ready. What about you? 

 The Land of Know-Alls is a small land , so small that it looks as if anyone could fall off the edge quite easily. In the middle of it is a very steep hill in the middle of which is a magnificent glittering palace with thousands of windows that look like a diamond. In the middle of this palace is a tall tower, where the five Know-Alls stay. These five Know-Alls are peculiar folk, strange and wonderful. They are so old that they have forgotten what their youth was, but they are extremely wise and know the answers to all your questions.

THE LAND OF TEA-PARTIES

The land of tea parties  seems to be made up of nothing, but white-clothed tables laden with all kinds of goodies to eat. There are  a lot of tables, big and small, round and square- all filled with the most delicious things you can think of! There are dainty little chairs to sit on and there are little rabbits as waiters dressed neatly in aprons and little black coats. You should see them hurry here and there carrying pots of tea, jugs of lemonade and lots of other drinks! You can find yourself and your friends a nice big table and eat all the delicious things you always wanted to! I would love to have some cheese fondue and chocolate cake ! What about you? 

The Nursery Rhyme land is a place full of nursery rhyme people and you won't feel lost at all,  as you would already know most of them. There is Jack and Jill, Tommy Tucker, Miss. Muffet and her spider. (you better stay away from him!) The houses and the cottages are thatched and there little gardens full of wonderful flowers. 

You would never want to be in this land, ever! The Roundabout land is a strange place where all the trees, bushes, hills and houses keep moving round and round, just like a roundabout! It is really difficult to walk as you feel start feeling giddy and if you ever land up here, you'd better find a tree and hold on to it tightly.

As the name suggests, you can just take whatever you want! A wonderful land simply crowded with things and people. There are animals wandering here and there, sacks filled with all sorts of wonderful things from gold to potatoes, stalls of most wonderful vegetables and fruits, chairs, tables and loads of other things. All this for you to take away! I am looking for a pretty little watch, the one which says 'cuckooo', if you ever happen to be there, will you please get me one?

The Land of birthdays is a land of birthday parties. Anyone who has a birthday can go there and give the most wonderful party to all their friends.  It is simply wonderful-full of brilliant sunshine, blue sky and a cool breeze. The trees are always green and daisies and buttercups growing in the fields.  Don't be dissapointed if you don't have a birthday dress. There is a small house where you can go get yourself the best of fancy dresses you want. And do you know what I like best? Cute small rabbits that hop out of their holes just to wish you a very happy birthday. What fun!
